Moja Expressway Company has denied claims that it closed the Westlands Exit along the Nairobi Expressway from September 8 to 20 to pave the way for maintenance works.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 9, Moja Expressway stated that the Westlands Exit remains fully operational.
It confirmed the ongoing maintenance works, but explained that it did not affect the exit at the toll station.
"Please be informed that the Nairobi Westlands Exit remains fully open and operational. The scheduled maintenance is taking place past the exit, so traffic exiting at the toll station will not be affected," the statement read in part.
The clarification came amid heavy traffic in Westlands on Wednesday morning, which was linked to the alleged maintenance works at the Nairobi Expressway exit.

Among those caught up in the traffic snarl-up is the European Union Ambassador to Kenya Andreas Peschke, who shared a photo of the motor vehicle pile-up.
Earlier, Moja Expressway announced a temporary traffic diversion at the Wetlands exit due to construction works along the elevated overpass deck at the James Gichuru, ABC Place Junction.
On July 18, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced a three-month partial closure of a section of Waiyaki Way.
In a notice on Thursday, June 18, KeNHA informed motorists that traffic along the Nakuru-bound carriageway between Karuna Close and Westlands Roundabout will be affected from June 25 to September 25.
"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) notifies the public that a section of Waiyaki Way (A8) Road from Karuna Close and Westlands Roundabout on the Nakuru-bound carriageway will be partially closed from Thursday, June 25, 2026, to Friday, September 25, 2026," the notice read.
KeNHA explained that the traffic disruption is necessary to allow contractors to undertake works on two pedestrian footbridge projects.
