The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a surveyor based in Narok County over allegations of soliciting and receiving a bribe.

In a statement on Friday, September 11, the agency said the suspect, Joan Achieng Odumbe, is accused of demanding money from a complainant in exchange for facilitating the identification of beacons between two parcels of land in Nairagie Enkare Sub-County, Narok County.

"The suspect, Joan Achieng Odumbe, is alleged to have demanded Ksh100,000 from a complainant to facilitate the identification of beacons between two parcels of land at Nairagie Enkare Sub-County, Narok County," the statement read.

EACC said it launched preliminary investigations after receiving the complaint, leading to an operation at the Narok County offices.

"Following preliminary investigations, the Commission mounted an operation that led to the arrest of the suspect at the Narok County offices while receiving Ksh50,000," the statement added.

EACC said Odumbe was subsequently escorted to its South Rift Regional Office in Nakuru for processing and statement recording.

This comes a day after EACC arrested two officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kipkelion Sub-County Offices over allegations of soliciting and receiving a bribe.

In a statement on Thursday, September 10, the agency said the officers, identified as Corporal Wesley Korir and Corporal Christopher Maina, are accused of demanding Ksh500,000 from a complainant.

"The suspects, Corporal Wesley Korir and Corporal Christopher Maina, allegedly demanded Ksh500,000 from a complainant in exchange for terminating a murder case against him," the statement read.

EACC said the officers were arrested after preliminary investigations established grounds for an operation targeting the alleged bribery transaction.

"Following preliminary investigations, the Commission mounted an operation that led to the arrest of the suspects earlier today while receiving Ksh120,000," the statement added.

The suspects were subsequently processed at the EACC South Rift Regional Office as investigations into the bribery allegations continued.

They were later released on a cash bail of Ksh30,000 each pending completion of the investigations.
