Gathoni Wamuchomba has announced her exit from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba has announced her exit from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Speaking on Thursday, October 8, Wamuchomba confirmed that she would not defend her seat in 2027 under UDA, but through a party which her electorate will recommend.
She claimed that the UDA and its affiliates have no regard for others.
"Therefore, after soul-searching and serious consultations with my voters, community leaders and the church, my conscience does not allow me to dine, associate and cluster with people who have no regard for others. Therefore, I am not going to defend, campaign or seek any political seat through my party, UDA," the MP stated.
Wamuchomba named Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale as one of the reasons she decided to ditch the ruling party. She accused him of consistently speaking against and undermining the Kikuyu community.

She questioned why no action was taken by the party or the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) failed to take action against him, calling it selective application of justice.
"I expected that the NCIC would summon and arrest the leader who called our community hyenas. Why hasn't CS Aden Duale been arrested? Because he has been adamant: I will take a political decision.
"The contempt with which Duale treats me, because he once called me a small girl, shows that this government has not learned its lesson even after the Gen Z revolution," she stated.
Wamuchomba added that the UDA government also failed to address key concerns that she raised about the plight of tea and coffee farmers.
She stated that while she questioned the legality of the Nairobi Coffee Exchange operations, which she claims handles billions of shillings of the farmers' money, nothing was done.
The lawmaker said that she will join Kenyans who speak against characters like Duale. She explained that that is the only way to have issues addressed because whenever she speaks while in government, nobody listens or respects her.
Her exit comes months after Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe announced their exit from UDA. Nyoro joined the People's Party of Kenya (PPK).
On his part, Kagombe said his decision to exit UDA was informed by the concerns and wishes of Gatundu South residents.
