The Wiper Party has explained the circumstances surrounding an old photograph of Kalonzo Musyoka, President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki
Wiper Patriotic Front spokesperson Ndegwa Njiru has explained the circumstances surrounding an old photograph of party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki that has been circulating on social media.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 27, Njiru said the photograph was taken in 2018 following the death of Kalonzo’s father, when several political leaders visited the family to offer their condolences.

According to Njiru, Ruto was the Deputy President at the time, while Kindiki was the Senator for Tharaka Nithi.
"My attention has been drawn to an old photograph circulating on social media that was taken in 2018, at the time when His Excellency Kalonzo Musyoka had just lost his dear father," he wrote.

Njiru criticised the use of the photograph for political purposes, accusing those circulating it of exploiting a private moment of grief to advance their political interests.
"It is a matter of profound regret that despair and desperation can so completely erode a man's sense of decency that he would stoop to low exploiting the private grief and misfortune of others for political ends. Such conduct is not merely opportunistic; it is despicable," he added.

Njiru maintained that the circulation of the photograph and what he described as propaganda would not weaken the resolve of those seeking political change in the country.
"No volume of blackmail, no orchestration of state-sponsored propaganda, and no distortion of private moments of bereavement will break the resolve of those determined to liberate this country from a predatory regime. Our course remains fixed.
"The truth of the record will not be rewritten, and the struggle for the liberation of Kenya will not be derailed by those who traffic in the grief of others," he further said.
Njiru also reiterated Wiper's position on Kalonzo's political stance, insisting that the party leader would only face President William Ruto in the presidential election.
"I wish to reiterate that our party leader and presidential candidate shall only meet the leader of this predatory regime at the ballot," he concluded.
This comes days after the Wiper Party addressed claims that Kalonzo must be the presidential candidate of the United Alternative Government for the 2027 General Election.
In an interview on Sunday, October 18, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru weighed in on the debate, expressing doubts that Kalonzo would agree to deputise Sifuna.
She also pointed to the position of some of Kalonzo’s supporters, warning that they could consider backing President William Ruto if their preferred candidate was not selected.
"I don’t see Kalonzo agreeing to deputise Sifuna, and Kalonzo’s followers have said if it’s not Kalonzo, they will go to Ruto," she claimed.
In response, Njiru clarified that the party had not formally demanded that Kalonzo be selected as the preferred presidential candidate of the oppositio.
Njiru, however, maintained that Wiper had made its position on working with Ruto clear, distancing the party from any suggestion that it would support the Head of State.
"Let it be known that Wiper has neither made such a presentation nor taken a position that our presidential candidate must be the preferred United Alternative Government candidate, but we have made it clear the Kalonzo will never work with Ruto," he responded.
