Mosiria said the departed ODM founder would never associate with leaders like Sakaja.

Former Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has poured cold water on Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja's claim that he ditched UDA for ODM because the late Raila Odinga asked him to join the Orange Party.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 2, Mosiria said the departed ODM founder would never associate with leaders like Sakaja.

He said that Baba believed in good leadership, integrity, accountability and ethical governance, and stood firmly against corruption. Sakaja's ex-appointee added that Raila believed that principles and values should guide public leadership.

"Admitting individuals with questionable reputations and integrity into ODM is an insult to Baba’s legacy and everything he stood for. His legacy deserves to be protected, respected and upheld," Mosiria wrote.

The ex-CeC told the ODM Leadership that they had betrayed the former premier's legacy by admitting him into the Orange Party for political expediency.

"Did Baba die with ODM? If ODM is to continue existing, it must remain anchored in the principles and values that Baba championed," he wrote.

On his part, Kasarani Member of Parliament (MP) Ronald Karauri, who has declared interest in unseating the Governor, claimed Sakaja's catapult from UDA to ODM was inconsequential.

He claimed that the County Chief would not successfully defend his seat in the 2027 General Election regardless of which political party he chooses because his performance has eroded the Nairobi residents' trust in him.

"He’s not leaving UDA because of any problem with the party — he’s running to ODM because he thinks a new colour will make people forget his record.

'Collapsed buildings, flooding, garbage, unpaid bursaries, and four years of City Hall mess. Changing parties will not erase the monumental failure," Karauri wrote.

During his welcome party, Sakaja claimed that Raila always wanted him in ODM. He added that he started working with the departed leader even before he entered into a broad-based partnership with President William Ruto's UDA.

He maintained that ODM was the party of choice for Nairobi residents and dismissed claims that the United Opposition would do a clean sweep of all elective seats in 2027.
