"I had the pleasure of paying a courtesy call on ODM Party Leader, Senator Oburu Oginga, at his home this evening, where he warmly welcomed me into the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) family," he wrote.
Sakaja said his decision to join ODM was also an opportunity to advance the ideals associated with the party's late former leader, Raila Odinga, particularly his commitment to social justice, inclusivity and national unity.

"I am honoured by the warm reception and look forward to working closely with the party leadership and members as we strengthen the party and uphold the ideals and legacy of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, particularly his commitment to social justice, inclusivity and the unity of our nation," he added.

On his part, Oburu confirmed hosting Sakaja at his residence and welcomed his entry into the party, describing the development as a significant step as ODM continued expanding its membership.
"It was a great pleasure hosting Governor Johnson Sakaja at my home this evening. I was truly delighted to officially welcome him into the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) family.
"As our party continues to grow and strengthen its roots, his joining marks a significant and welcome step forward for all our new members. Welcome to ODM," he wrote.
Sakaja was officially welcomed into ODM at Chungwa House in Nairobi by senior party officials, including Deputy Party Leader Simba Arati and National Chairperson Gladys Wanga.
Speaking after his admission into ODM, Sakaja linked his political journey to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, saying their relationship dated back to his entry into politics and his eventual election as Nairobi Governor.
"I started with Raila Odinga when I joined politics and became governor. Now that I have joined ODM, I have many people behind me whom I am bringing into the party," he said.
Sakaja also revisited the criticism he faced over his close relationship with Raila and his decision to work with the former Prime Minister before the formation of the Broad-Based Government.
"I was branded an ODM mole even before the Broad-Based Government. I was fought by tribal leaders who opposed my decision to work with Raila. Isn't it a shame? he added.
