The message, which has been forwarded multiple times, claims that KRA is recruiting for the positions of Revenue Officer under Grade 2 in the Accounts Department and Procurement Officer under Grade 1.
It further lists academic qualifications for the alleged vacancies, including bachelor’s degrees in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics and Statistics, as well as CPA qualifications and supply chain management credentials.

Applicants are instructed to submit their CVs and academic documents to an email address provided in the message, which also includes a Gmail address copied into the communication.
However, KRA has distanced itself from the recruitment message, warning that it is fraudulent and was not issued by the Authority.
“We wish to alert the public about a fraudulent WhatsApp message circulating about job vacancies within the Authority," the notice read.
The tax agency clarified that all genuine employment opportunities are communicated through its official platforms.
"Please note that this message is fake and does not originate from KRA. All legitimate KRA job opportunities are advertised through our official channels, including our website, kra.go.ke," the notice added.

KRA also cautioned members of the public against falling victim to individuals seeking to obtain personal information and documents through fake recruitment advertisements.
"Do not share your personal information or documents with unverified contacts," the notice concluded.
This comes a day after the Public Service Commission (PSC) warned members of the public and government institutions against fake recruitment letters circulating.
In a notice on Tuesday, November 3, the commission clarified that the letters, which claim to communicate decisions approving recruitment in different government departments, were not issued by the PSC.
“The Public Service Commission (PSC) wishes to notify the public that circulating letters purporting to approve recruitment in various State Departments are FAKE and did not originate from the Commission," the notice read.
The letters, bearing the commission's name and official markings, purported to communicate recruitment approvals to several government departments.
Among the documents were letters dated September 23, 2026, addressed to the Principal Secretaries in the State Department for Forestry and the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action.
Another letter dated October 15, 2026, was addressed to the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Public Works.
The documents purported to communicate the commission's approval of recruitment following requests submitted by the Executive Office of the President and consideration of the establishment of the respective State Departments.
They also contained instructions on the recruitment of officers into designated positions, including details on remuneration, verification and onboarding processes.
However, the PSC warned government institutions and members of the public against relying on the documents or taking any action based on their contents.
"The public and Government institutions are cautioned against acting on them," the notice added.
