The National Treasury on Thursday, November 5, announced two scheduled maintenance exercises for the e-Citizen platform.

In a notice, the Treasury said the maintenance would facilitate system upgrades, improve performance and strengthen the security of the government’s digital payments platform.

"The National Treasury, through the Government Digital Payments Department wishes to notify members of the Public, Stakeholders, and all system users that scheduled maintenance will be undertaken on the e-Citizen Platform to facilitate system upgrades, improve performance, enhance security, and ensure the continued reliability of services," the notice read.

The first maintenance exercise is scheduled to begin at 10pm on Saturday, November 7, 2026, and end at 5am on Sunday, November 8, 2026.

The second exercise is scheduled to take place from 10pm on Saturday, November 14, 2026, to 5am on Sunday, November 15, 2026.

The two exercises were expected to run for seven hours each, during which users could experience disruptions when accessing e-Citizen and its associated services.

The Treasury advised Kenyans to plan ahead and complete urgent transactions before the maintenance periods began to avoid inconveniences arising from temporary service interruptions.

"During this period, users may experience temporary service interruptions or limited access to the system and its associated services.

"Users are therefore advised to plan accordingly and, where possible, complete any urgent transactions before the commencement of the maintenance exercise," the notice added.

The Treasury apologised for the anticipated disruptions, saying the exercise was necessary to improve the delivery and reliability of government digital services.

"The National Treasury regret any inconvenience this interruption may cause and appreciates the public's patience and understanding as we undertake this exercise to improve service delivery," the notice further read.
