  • The meeting comes barely a week after Uhuru urged NASA principals to unite, hinting that he may support whoever they settle on as their presidential candidate.

The Principals of the embattled National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition; Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) on Tuesday held a consultative meeting over the future of the outfit, following recent developments involving some of its members.

The three are reported to have met at a city hotel and agreed to consult with their parties on the best way forward regarding the future of the coalition, after which they’ll hold another meeting and issue a joint statement on the next cause of action.

“The three principals are alive to the fact that they are still bound to the NASA agreement even though the coalition is dead. The consultations will therefore border along the formation of a new coalition,” an insider was quoted by a local daily.

The meeting comes barely a week after Kalonzo led a delegation of Ukambani leaders to State House where the Head of State urged the NASA principals to unite, hinting that he may support whoever they settle on as their presidential candidate.

“Steve (Kalonzo), listen to your people and what they are saying. Unite in NASA then we shall see what will happen. Whatever you will agree on is what I will go with.

“If as Ukambani you will work together and stay united the way the Mt Kenya region is doing, then I have no doubt you will be part of the next government,” Uhuru said.

Reports indicate that the Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula meeting was in reaction to ongoing coalition talks between Jubilee and ODM party. It is important to note that ODM is one of the members forming the NASA coalition.
