Kiambu County Woman Representative Gathoni Wa Muchomba has opened up on her move to join Deputy President William Ruto’s team, stating that it was influenced by the people of Kiambu County.
Speaking on Sunday, Wa Muchomba claimed that Kiambu residents are angry at President Uhuru Kenyatta, adding that it was this anger that prompted her to shift her political base.
According to the Woman Rep, her constituents are mad that the Head of State did not involve them in critical decisions made by him and the Jubilee party, despite their overwhelming support in the 2013 and 2017 general elections.
She cited the handshake between President Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and recent talks of a potential merger between ODM and Jubilee as the main reasons why Kiambu people are mad at Uhuru.

“Watu wangu wa Kiambu wamenionyesha kwamba wao wamesonga wameachana na Uhuru Kenyatta wanataka William Ruto na wamekasirika. Sijui kama mheshimiwa rais anajua watu wamekasirika.
“Watu wamekasirikira kwa sababu zile salamu alienda kusalimiana wanasema hawakuhusishwa. Pia hii maneno ameleta ya proposal kwamba Jubilee itashikana na ODM wananchi wamekasirika wanasema hawakumpatia nguvu ya kuunganisha chama ya Jubilee na ODM bila ata kuitisha National Management Committee meeting… Tunaona hio ni madharau, tunaona hio ni kuwekwa kando, tunaonekana ni kama hatuna nguvu, kwa hivyo ni afadhali tufuate mtu anaona sisi tuko na maana,” she said.
Last week, Wa Muchomba ditched the Jubilee Party faction led by President Kenyatta and joined the Hustler brigade under the leadership of DP Ruto.
Her move is a blow to the ruling party as she enjoys massive support in Kiambu County. During the last election, she was the third most voted for candidate in the country after President Kenyatta and Odinga.
