Kitui Senator Enock Wambua has blasted Raila Odinga, accusing him of gatecrashing President Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent Ukambani tour.
Speaking during a funds drive at AIC Kyondoni in Kitui County on Sunday, Senator Wambua claimed that Raila was not invited to the event, adding that it was improper for him to “gatecrash”.
According to Senator Wambua, such meetings are meant for local leaders to have an audience with the president and addresses issues facing their electorate. In his view, the presence of Odinga was not required in the meeting.
He requested the former Premier to stay away from future similar meetings if he’s not officially invited.
"We want political decency in this country. If you have not been invited, don't come. For Raila to have come to our meeting, that was not right. We request him any other time the president is coming, please don't come. We have our own issues we want to tell the president," Wambua said.
During the same event, he urged Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to maintain his relationship with Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, arguing that the two are the best suited to run the country after President Kenyatta retires in August 2022.
"We have other leaders in this country who might force other people into exile once they get into power," the Senator said while urging Moi and Kalonzo to work closely.
