Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has alleged that a plot to rig the upcoming Kiambaa by-election is being hatched by the government.
In a statement on Tuesday, Kuria claimed that ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has been calling UDA agents in Kiambaa, with an aim of influencing them to take part in the alleged rigging.
He gave an example of an agent identified as Muchendu, who he claimed had been approached, but has vowed to remain firm and support UDA.
“Dear CS Joe Mucheru. Stop calling UDA agents for Kiambaa and trying to influence them to facilitate your rigging. It will not work. People like Muchendu whom you just called are Unbwogable. They remain unbowed,” Kuria posted.
By press time, neither CS Mucheru nor Jubilee party had responded to Kuria’s allegations regarding the Kiambaa by-election.

The allegations come barely 48 hours before Kiambaa residents take to the polls to elect their new MP, in a contest that has been branded as a litmus test on the popularity of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto in the Central Kenya region.
The two main contestants in the Kiambaa by-election are; Kariri Njama of Jubilee Party and John Njuguna Wanjiku of UDA. President Kenyatta supports the former while his deputy has rallied behind the latter.
This is an important election for Jubilee as it seeks to re-establish itself in the Central Kenya region following loses in recent by-elections, with the most recent being in Juja.
