The Government of Kenya has made an important step towards dealing with the increasing cases of Mental Health in country.
This comes after the Ministry of Health signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Italian Health firm Gruppo San Donato (GSD) to collaborate in research and effecting interventions to curb mental health.
The deal was signed at State House, Nairobi in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta
"President Uhuru Kenyatta today at State House, Nairobi witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Health and an Italian health firm Gruppo San Donato (GSD) on advancing mental health in Kenya."
"The MOU, signed by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe and the firm's Chairman Mr Kamel Ghribi, will see Kenya and GSD collaborate in research and implementation of mental health interventions," said a statement by State House.

In November last year, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed the Ministry of Health to establish a taskforce on the status of mental health in country whose report would be discussed in cabinet after 90 days, which would assist government in allocation of resources to mental health.
The cabinet, which is chaired by the President also approved establishment of Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital and the designation of Gilgil Hospital as a satellite mental health facility of Mathari.
In an earlier address, the Head of State had directed the establishment of an Ultramodern National Mental Hospital.
