Homa Bay County Woman Rep Gladys Wanga has vowed to seek more details regarding controversial Turkey businessman Harun Aydin’s Kenyan investments following his arrest on Saturday.
Aydin was arrested by the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) shortly after landing in Kenya, over claims of being involved in terror financing.
Following Aydin’s arrest, a section of leaders allied to Hustler Nation defended the Turkish National, arguing that he was being victimized for his association with Deputy President William Ruto.
On his part, DP Ruto condemned Aydin’s detainment noting that the Turkish national was a victim of ‘political pettiness’ by cartels that criminalise enterprise.
“Turkish investor,Aydin Harun, is a victim of top-down arrogance bred by patronage & cartels that criminalise enterprise. Importers' goods declared contraband, Africa spirits closed, Keroche harassed, now investor with valid papers labeled terrorist. Tragedy of political pettiness,” DP Ruto tweeted on Saturday night.

Weighing in on the debate surrounding Aydin’s arrest, Wanga noted that as the chair of the Finance committee in the National Assembly, she’ll be seeking more information from the Kenya Revenue Authority to establish the investments the Turkish National has made in the country.
“As Chair of the Finance Committee, I will be calling on @KRACorporate to provide us with investment details of this 'investor' including amounts he has paid in taxes for the period he has been farming fruits here,” Wanga tweeted.
