A three-day water shutdown by the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has commenced in the city. The planned shutdown commenced today at 6:00am and is scheduled to run until Friday, August 13, at 6:00am.

The shutdown will mostly affect the western parts of the city especially estates served by the Uthiru and Dagoretti reservoirs.

“We would like to inform our customers that there will be interruption of water supply for customers served from Uthiru and Dagoretti reservoirs due to scheduled shut-down of the Dagoretti and Uthiru pumps at Kabete Water Works pumping station. The shut-down will start from 6am Wednesday to Friday, August 13, 2021 at 6am,” Nairobi Water’s notice read in part.

The agency has apologized for the inconveniences caused, adding that the affected residents should use water sparingly during the shutdown period.


“We strongly advise our customers to reserve and use water sparingly before and during the period of interruption,” he added.

The estates to be affected by the shutdown include:

• Parts of Gitanga Road, Amboseli Road, Sunset Estate, Sohill City Estate, and its environs.

• The whole of Kawangware 56 and 46, Congo, Lower parts of Macharia Road and its environs

• The whole of Riruta satellite, Kagongo, Muhuru Road, Upper Kabiria, Mithonge, Kamwanya, Kahuho Road, Ngina Road, Kikuyu Road, Waithaka, Ndwaru Road and its environs.

• Waithaka, Gachui, Kirigo, Dagoretti Market and Mariguini and its environs

• Uthiru, Mountain View Estate, Kangemi, Thiongo Road and its environs

• The whole of Karen area.
