Macharia and Maalim were both part of the commissioners that were appointed to the EACC in December 2015 by President Kenyatta.
The two commissioners have been at the center of key efforts by the anti-corruption agency in ending graft in the country.
The duo have been in the past vocal about the need for coordinated effort by all institutions countrywide as the best strategy to effectively fight corruption and root it out of public institutions.
Maalim, an alumnus of the Nairobi University School of Nursing has often been vocal about the need to inculcate integrity and ethics in the youth from an early age.
He championed for EACC's engagement in curriculum development spearheaded by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development. This engagement would be achieved through the Commission’s National Integrity Academy (NIAca).
Maalim was hopeful that Competence Base Curriculum (CBC) education system would help future generations reduce corruption.
The two commissioners lead a team of EACC officials that hosted the Integrity Committee of the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) on November 13, 2019.
The committee was in Kenya on a bench-marking mission and to learn the role of Corruption Prevention Committees in fighting corruption in public institutions.
