Influential politicians and businessmen living in houses owned by the Kisumu County Government are staring at a possible eviction and auction of their belongings over rent arrears.
Among those issued with notices of eviction is Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, who occupies the county government's house in the lakeside city's Milimani Estate.
Others prominent personalities on the eviction list include former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo, businessman Erick Okeyo and one Pamela Olango.
According to the Acting Kisumu City Manager Abala Wanga, the notices were issued over failure to remit rent for the houses located in the high-end Kisumu estate.
Wanga has ordered the leaders to pay up the arrears or leave. He said they risk legal action for non-payment of rent.

Senator Fred Outa is said to owe the city Ksh1.7million in rent arrears while Midiwo's notice shows he owes the county Ksh876,000 in rent.
Okeyo and Olango are said to have arrears of Ksh5.4 million and Ksh3.6million respectively.
Milimani hosts the wealthiest and most influential people in Kisumu. It hosts musicians, businessmen, politicians and a number of powerful government officers and senior police officers.
