Deputy President William Ruto has continued to maintain his stance against amending the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
While addressing spiritual leaders from various churches and mosques from Makueni Count at his Karen residence on Thursday, September 23, 2021, the second in command reiterated that some of the proposals contained in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) document can be implemented without Constitutional amendments.
"Parliament and IEBC, for instance, are well placed to enhance resources to counties and undertake the creation of additional constituencies as part of their mandate," he said.

DP Ruto proceeded to demand an apology from proponents of the BBI, claiming that they sabotaged the Big Four Agenda.
He stated that the push for the Constitution amendment sabotaged the Big Four plan that was meant to create millions of jobs for Kenyans.
"They sabotaged the Big Four plan; that was supposed to create a universal health coverage framework that would benefit millions of women, children and old people.
"They sabotage the whole food investments strategy that would lift many farmers and create opportunities for them to access markets," DP Ruto stated.
"Instead they brought on us matters of changing the constitution for purposes of sharing power and positions," he noted.
DP Ruto stated that there was no way the BBI was going to pass, reiterating that it was the biggest fraud and most dangerous assignment ever undertaken in Kenya.
He stated that it would have destroyed the constitution and impose on Kenyans an imperial president who would have control over the judiciary, and the legislature.
"That is the least the people of Kenya want for a president. The people of Kenya want a servant leader," the deputy president said.
