The residents of Kianjokoma, Embu County have a reason to smile after the government opened a new police station in the locality.
Kianjokoma was at the center of national headlines for over a month following the death of two brothers in the hands of police officers.
The new station was unveiled by Embu North Sub County Police Commander, Abdullahi Adan on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was accompanied by members of the clergy who blessed the station in prayer, in attendance of locals.

Kianjokoma Police Station will be led by Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Isaac Mugoya and his deputy Elisha Mwaniki.
A police vehicle was also provided to the station to facilitate patrols and security operations by the officers.
Mugoya and Mwaniki attended a church service at the ACK Trinity Church, and were prayed for by Reverend Isaiah Njagi.
"When they will be coming out of Kianjokoma, they will be going out on a promotion. They will not go out because of any disciplinary cases," Njagi prayed.
Mugoya called upon members of the public to work closely with the officers in ensuring a safer town while restoring honor in the service.
"Work with us so that Kianjokoma will be remembered as secure and peaceful and not a place of sorrow, tears or demise," Mugoya stated.
The community expressed their gratitude to the establishment of the new station, with some of them donating chairs to the new police base.
With the death of the two brothers, Benson Mutura and Emmanuel Ndwiga on August 1, police in the country have been on the spotlight for the use of excessive force.
Kianjokoma residents at the time complained that officers were coming from distant police stations to 'harass' the locals. Therefore, a new station in Kianjokoma comes as a relief to the town's people.
Six police officers are currently on trial for the murder of the two brothers.
