A week after her disappearance, the family got a call from strangers; one claiming to be medical officer from Migori Level IV hospital and a police officer from the same county.
The two claimed they had picked Saumu in critical condition and requested for cash from the family. In a single day, the family reportedly sent over 12,000 shillings to the strangers.
It was until the family reported the development to officers at Kenyatta Hospital police post that they were informed that those were fraudsters
Kilimani DCI officers have launched a probe and are tracing leads including tracking cell numbers used by the fraudsters in conning the family.
Meanwhile, the family is optimistic that in the long run, they would be reunited with their missing kin.
