  • The 'Team Kenya' Senators met ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi at a Nairobi Hotel.
  • The leaders now want deliberations and an all-inclusive debate on the BBI report.

A section of Senators who gave President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga a rough ride at the Senate over sharing of revenue to counties has re-emerged.

The youthful Senators who christened themselves 'TEAM KENYA' on Thursday held a meeting with ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi at a Nairobi hotel.

The Senators say the meeting was to consult on the recently launched BBI report that has been criticised by the political class as seeking to weaken the senate.

According to Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, the leaders agreed to push for the opening of a window for further consultations on the contents of the report as a way of arriving at a win-win, non-contested referendum.

MAkueni Senator Mutula Junior, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Keiricho's Haron Cheruyiot, Senator Wambua and Kabaka were part of the meeting.

Nairobi Senator Johnso Sakaja who has opposed critical issues in the BBI also attended the meeting.

Narok Senator Kedama Ole Kina who has also raised concerns over the proposal to increase the number of Senators says there are several hidden issues in the report.

"BBI has a lot of things hidden inside! Please read it! With the extra 70 seats proposed Kiambu alone will take 22 seats. Talk of inclusivity!" says Ledama.

Ledama says most of those elected leaders drumming up support for BBI have not read it.

"Ask women leaders like my dear sisters Sabina Chege, Gladys Wanga and Wamuchomba how the affirmative action will be achieved with the 70 proposed additional leaders?" he holds.
