Deputy President William Ruto has vowed to defend Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua saying he will defend him from intimidation by state agencies.
Speaking in Mathira on Saturday, Ruto defended the MP as a performing leader who has transformed Mathira through his rich networks and sheer hard work.
He said the MP was facing intimidation for having a solid foundation and supporting his 2022 presidential ambitions. He said the MP was clean.
"I will defend you (Gachagua) to death. The criminal justice system should stop being used to score political goals. Gachagua is clean. Leave him alone," stated the DP.
Gachagua read malice in the investigation seeking to uncover the source of the Ksh12.5 billion that passed through his accounts.

The MP said the probe was politically instigated, condemning investigative agencies for freezing his accounts.
He now claimed that leaders want him to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga so as to have charges against him dropped.
Gachagua claimed that he spent billions in funding President Kenyatta's campaigns in 2013 and the 2017 elections without anyone questioning the source of the money.
"Why is that there was no one asking me where I got the money? I hired and branded hundreds of vehicles in the campaigns across this region. On the day President Uhuru Kenyatta was sworn in as President, I hired and branded over 500 vehicles and ferried citizens from here to Nairobi, at the time the money wasn't questionable.
"Why now? You can ask me how I obtained my money and I will tell you but do not ask me where I took my money. I know my greatest mistake is walking around with the Deputy President. It is my people who have asked me to do that, ask them," stated Gachagua.
Police are investigating 22 firms linked to Gachagua. The firms are said to have been used to transact multibillion-shilling tenders in various counties.
In the probe, it has emerged that two hairdressers and a former M-Pesa attendant-turned personal assistant were awarded multimillion-shilling tenders for the national government and Mathira CDF.
The Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) and the investigating agencies have frozen at least Ksh200 Million that was in the MPs account.
