The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has announced the death of Deputy National Treasurer Ali Abdi Hussein.
According to KNUT Secretary General, Collins Oyuu, Hussein died while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
He went on to say that he had been admitted at the facility with Covid-19 related complications, but unfortunately died on Sunday morning after his condition worsened.
“It is with a heavy and sad heart that I announce the untimely demise of our brother Mwalimu Ali Abdi Hussein who has been critically ill at the Nairobi Hospital for the last three weeks,” said Oyuu in a statement.

Oyuu noted that Hussein had shown tremendous improvement three days before his death and went on to describe him as a distinctive leader, a hardworking servant, soft spoken, passionate and a progressive individual.
The KNUT SG added that Mr. Hussein tirelessly advocated for the rights of the teachers of Kenya.
He also prayed for comfort for the family and friends of Ali Hussein as they go through this difficult time.
