A police officer is said to have killed himself at his home in Karandi, Laikipia County on the night of Sunday, November 14, 2021.
According to reports, the officer since identified as Daniel Kibbara committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a pistol.
The incident is said to have occurred at around 11 pm.
John Okello, Kibbara's colleague and neighbour, stated that he heard a gunshot from the deceased's house followed by a scream from his widow Juliana.
Okello rushed to Kibbara's house and found him lying on the floor, bleeding from the mouth with the gun beside him and informed officers from the nearby station.
At the scene, police recovered the pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition as well as a cartridge and a bullet head.
Reports indicate that Kibbara shot himself below the chin and the bullet exited through the top of the head.
His body was taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
