Police in Diani, Kwale County are probing the mysterious death of a Buru Buru Girls High School teacher who died on Sunday, November 14, 2021.
Nelson Otsianda had checked himself into Gasimba Villas, alongside his colleagues on the fateful day.
Speaking to a local daily, Msambweni police boss Fanuel Nasio stated that the 30-year-old teacher was found lying in the swimming pool.
However, Otsianda's family has since dismissed the police statement, claiming foul play in his death.
“We have launched an investigation into the matter. The deceased was found to have drowned in the pool,” Nasio said.

He further revealed that staff at the hotel stated that the teacher had been swimming before he met his untimely demise.
The deceased's body was moved to Jocham Funeral Home in Mombasa.
Otsianda’s father, Cloud Amauchi, pointed an accusing finger at his son's colleagues, alleging they might be behind his death.
“They were at the pool together with my son, so how come all the four could not help him? I appeal to the government that investigations be conducted and these teachers be held responsible,” Amauchi said.
He noted that the family had appealed to the hotel's management to let them view CCTV footage, but their request was denied.
“Why has the management of the villas denied us access to the CCTV server? That means there is something fishy,” he said.
Since Otsiende's death, a message was shared on social media and has gone viral, alleging that the teacher was murdered before his body was tossed into the pool.
“A Buru Buru Girls teacher went with colleagues to Mombasa and now he is dead. The hotel that had hosted them says he fell in a swimming pool while drunk. So the brother to the deceased demands for a CCTV footage, the hotel says it was not functional. He insists on accessing the main server.
To his shock, he sees two men clobbering his brother and killing him then throws (sic) him to the swimming poll. What is the hotel hiding,”the post reads in part.
