Police have re-arrested two suspects who escaped from Kapsoya Police Station in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County on November 11, 2021.
The two who are facing charges of robbery with violence were arrested in Kisumu on Wednesday, November 17.
Mohammed Aden Hussein, 18, and Elvis Odhiambo, 17, were arrested in the Lakeside city with the help of local boda boda operators from the Manyatta area.
“The suspects who were arrested had escaped from Kapsoya Police Station on November 11, 2021,” a police report read in part.
According to reports, three suspects had escaped from the police station but one was caught while the two managed to flee.
Manyatta ‘A’ Sub Location assistant chief Agnes Akinyi Ogweno told Nation that she had been notified of the duo's arrival in Kisumu on Sunday, November 14 and was made aware of their hideout in Corner Mbaya.
“Following this tip off, we launched a manhunt for the two. By Tuesday 10 pm, we were informed that they had been spotted around Mosque area on the Nyamasaria Kasagam-Kondele bypass,” Ogweno said.
The two were spotted in the area disguised as street urchins dressed in rags and carrying plastic waste.
According to witnesses, the two stopped a boda boda to board before an official from the office of the assistant chief, who had been on their trail, asked the riders to help him arrest them.
“One of them tried to run away but I pounced on him next to the garage and we took them to Kosawo hall where they were held briefly, following claims that they were the terror suspects from Kamiti,” a local resident stated.
Police were notified and responded immediately to the scene and took the suspects into custody.
Mohammed Aden had disguised himself under an alias, Jack Otieno from Busia, but it was later established that he had shaved his hair to hide his identity.
The duo was taken to Kondele Police Station pending transfer to Kapsoya police station.
