A police officer in Migori County is in hospital after he was pushed off a speeding vehicle by a prisoner.
According to reports, the prisoner shoved the officer off the vehicle, before jumping off himself, and escaping.
The officer since identified as Martin Kuria is said to have sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kehancha Hospital.

He was later transferred to the Migori County Referral Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.
According to a police report of the incident filed at Kehancha Township Police Station, Kuria and colleagues, Magdalene Kibe, Gaudencia Francis, Richard Onyonka were on a patrol in Kehancha, Kuria West when they arrested four prisoners.
The officers were on board a police patrol vehicle, registration number GKB 667T which was being driven by James Kurugu.
“They arrested four prisoners at Kehancha Township and that one of them turned violent but officers managed to subdue him, returned him into the vehicle,” the report read in part.
According to the officers, one of the prisoners became violent as the vehicle approached the police station. He then pushed Kuria out of the vehicle, jumped out and disappeared into a nearby thicket.
Kuria is said to have hit his head on the tarmac and that is when he was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The police report indicated that he was unconscious and bleeding from one ear. He also suffered cuts on the head occasioned from the fall.
“He is admitted as an inpatient and he is in a serious condition, a head CT scan was done and the report is yet to be released. Efforts to trace the escapee are underway,” the report read in part.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect.
