A man is in hospital after he was shot and robbed of Ksh1.1 million on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
The incident is said to have occurred in the Embakasi area, Nairobi.
Embakasi Sub-County Police Commander John Nyamu said that the victim withdrew the money from a bank in Donholm and was intercepted by a gang riding on a motorcycle around Cabanas.
A scuffle ensued between the victim and the gang, and that is when they shot him in the groin and made away with the money.

“We want to know how they knew he went for the money. The gang is on the run but we will get them,” Nyamu said.
After withdrawing the cash from the bank, the suspect took a matatu to Taj Mall, where he alighted and boarded a boda boda to Cabanas for a transaction and that is where he was intercepted by the gang.
This indicated that the gang had trailed him from the bank.
“As he was crossing the road, he was confronted by armed men riding on a motorbike. They demanded the bag containing the cash but he resisted, prompting the shooting. We are looking for the rider who dropped him at the scene for interrogation,” a police officer said.
This brings to at least four such cases reported in Nairobi in the last week, in which about Ksh2 million unsuspecting Kenyans have been robbed.
Last week, a man was robbed of Ksh414,000 he had withdrawn from a bank in Utawala.
The victim, an administrator of a computer school in the Mihango area, had withdrawn the money and boarded an Uber heading back to the school when they were intercepted and hijacked by a car that had been trailing them.
The incident happened at around 2 pm.
The armed men took control of the car and drove towards Karagita area near Nairobi River where they dumped both the driver and the victim before escaping with the money.
