Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has dismissed her Nakuru counterpart Lee Kinyanjui's remarks on the ongoing political campaigns targeting the Mt Kenya region.
In response to Governor Kinyajui's apparent attack at Deputy President William Ruto where he said the region will only vote in those who represent their interests, Governor Waiguru noted that things have changed.
According to the Kirinyaga Governor, many people from the Mt Kenya region are suffering economically hence the need to vote in a leadership that will address their needs.

"This time, they will vote with both their heads and hearts; a message they understand and a messenger they feel," she wrote on Facebook and tagged DP Ruto.
The response came shortly after, Governor Kinyanjui had warned that Mt Kenya region residents will not be fooled into voting with their hearts.
According to the Nakuru Governor, the DP is too obsessed with the Mt Kenya region, so much so, that one might imagine that other regions will not be participating in 2022 polls.
In an indirect attack at the DP, Governor Kinyajui faulted him for not standing with the region's interest at the time of need.
"From the last five elections since multiparty, the region has voted with its head, not the heart. Interests and only interests will reign supreme.
"Did you support them when they wanted one man one shilling one vote? Did you support them when they sought equality of the vote? Did you support their kin while in office? What are your stands on free enterprise and the fight against corruption? The candidate that affirms the above takes the prize," the Governor said.
