Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has rubbished Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji’s 2021 Jurist of the Year award.
According to the lawyer, the DPP did not deserve to win the award.
He went on to say that Haji had prosecuted many innocent people because of made up charges by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti.
Miguna said that the lawyers who stopped the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) constitutional amendment from continuing deserved the award more.
“UNDERSERVING. Noordin Haji prosecuted many innocent Kenyans taken to court because of trumped up charges by @DCI_Kenya Kinoti. The advocates who stopped the #BBIFraud EARNED this recognition. Not a despotic poodle like Haji,” he said.

The Jurist of the Year Award is an annual award that seeks to give recognition, acknowledgment and encouragement to jurists who have consistently, fearlessly and impartially promoted the rule of law and human rights in Kenya during the year.
Haji’s win made it the first time since 1993 that the award went to a prosecutor and Director of Public Prosecutions.
Haji was recognized as a visionary leader who has transformed the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution to one of the most responsive and independent offices to the needs of the people of Kenya.
The DPP was lauded for development and operationalization of various policy documents, including; “The Guidelines on the Decision to Charge, 2019”.
