Police on Thursday, September 1, raided the former Kakamega Senator's home in Kakamega County.

The mother to former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala on Thursday, September 1, clashed with police who raided her son’s home in Kakamega County.

In a video seen by Nairobi Leo, the seemingly outraged Martha Malala said that his son was not a criminal and they were ready to go to court.

She said that it was unfair for Malala to be tortured by the police claiming that he was a respected Kenyan who deserved respect.

“This is too unfair. We are not going to allow. We are going to fight over this. You cannot torture my son like this. It is not allowed. Let us go to court. My son is not a criminal,” the ex-senator’s mother lamented.

She alleged that the incident had been perpetuated by outgoing Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

“Why is Oparanya doing this to my son? We just accepted the defeat. Why are you doing this to my son?” she posed.

Earlier, a contingent of policemen camped outside Malala’s compound with a few gaining access into the compound through the fence as the gate was locked.

The reason behind the incident was not immediately established.

Through his official Facebook page, Malala alleged that the police were harassing him at his residence with an unexplained arrest.

“Milimani Residence, Lurambi Constituency. Unwarranted Police harassment, intimidation, and unexplained arrest,” Malala captioned a live video from his residence.
