The National Police Service (NPS) has cautioned Kenyans to be wary of scammers claiming to conduct police recruitment.
In a statement on Saturday, the NPS said that the posts circulating on social media were fake and that Kenyans should be careful not to fall prey to them.
"Further to our recent disclaimer to circulating purported police recruitment, NPS wishes to remind the public that the purported announcement is FAKE and should be treated as a SCAM. Fraudsters and conmen prey on unsuspecting Kenyans so defraud them through such scams," NPS said.
The police further said that police recruitment is done through mainstream media and not online publications.
They added that the announcements are also done through their official websites; the National Police Service (NPS) and the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

"NPS recruitment announcements are done through mainstream media and NOT through online publications. In addition, the NPS and NPSC websites shall carry such an announcement when made."
NPS said that all police stations and commands are informed of the same and Kenyans can confirm the legitimacy of any such advertisements through the same.
"Further, all police stations and commands shall be notified of same, and the public can verify such information easily. Be aware of online and other related scams. Don’t be a victim," Police said.
