Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is in mourning following the passing of his mother.
Monica Njeri Waititu died on Sunday morning.
Waititu in a statement said his mother has lived with diabetes since 1982 and has fought many health battles since then.
"My mother Monica Njeri Waititu breathed her last on Sunday, February 20th 2022. A loving mother to my siblings and me and doting grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, mum didn't just raise me and my 14 siblings, her doors were always open to extended family, friends and even strangers," Waititu mourned.

Njeri died aged 93 years.
Waititu expressed gratitude to God for the many years his mother lived on earth even as he wished eternal glory in heaven.
"As a family, we really appreciate the many years God gave us with our matriarch. We are grateful for 93 years of her life and the many sacrifices she made to raise us.
"Fare thee well to the most loving, generous, selfless, prayerful and patient person I was honoured to call mother. Heaven has surely gained an angel," Waititu wrote.
Deputy President William Ruto has led his Kenya Kwanza Alliance team in passing his condolences following the death of the Former Governor's mum.
Waititu is one of Ruto's ardent supporters.
"I extend my condolences to Hon Ferdinand Waititu and his entire family and friends following the demise of your mother Monica Njeri Waititu.
"Mama Monica's love, counsel and generosity which she extended to the community will be missed. May the Lord comfort you and grant her eternal rest," Ruto said.
