Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has told the warring teams in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance to leave the choice of the coalition's running mate to Deputy President William Ruto.
In response to a war of words between ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, and his team, and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, Khalwale said the choice of deputy is strictly a prerogative of the Presidential candidate.
He urged Kenyans to ignore the war of words emerging in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance over the DP slot terming them as irrelevant.
"Appointment of a running mate in a Presidential Election is strictly the prerogative of the Presidential Candidate.

"The emergence of any protagonists within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, on this matter, should be ignored and or be treated as purely academic," Khalwale said,
His comment comes hot on the heels of a buzz that Gachagua's remarks have generated among the Kenya Kwanza leaders.
Gachagua, in an interview with Citizen TV, said the running mate is a preserve of the Mt Kenya region.
He said both Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula were told the seat was taken before they officially joined Ruto's camp.
The comment did not augur well with ANC who chided Gachagua saying he has no authority to speak over the matter on behalf of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
