In a statement released on Monday, KNEC noted that the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will commence on 22, March 2020, and 26, March 2020 respectively. 

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) announced new dates for Class Eight and Form Four national exams.

In a statement released on Monday, KNEC noted that the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will commence on 22, March 2021, and 26, March 2021 respectively.

The class eight exams will run for three days, with the normal exam schedule being adhered to.

For KCSE, candidates taking oral French will begin their exams on March 12 alongside students taking oral exams for German, Arabic and Kenya sign language.


Schools to fully reopen on January 4

On Monday, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha announced that all schools will be reopened on January 4, 2021.

According to Magoha, Grade 4 CBC learners will transition to Grade 5 in July 2021.

"Pre-primary 1&2, Grade 1, 2&3, Class 5, 6 and 7 and Form 1, 2 and 3 will start their second term on the 4th of January 2021 and end on 19th of March 2021.

"All learners except class 8 and form 4 candidates will proceed for a 7-week holiday to allow for KCPE and KCSE examination administration and marking.

"Grade 4 and incoming form 1s will stay at home as other as other learners complete their third term," CS Magoha stated.

In terms of students’ safety, Magoha said the ministry has masks in stock but will be getting extra from other stakeholders.
