His defection comes at a time when several ODM leaders are seeking the party ticket for the governor seat.

Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri has ditched the ODM party.

Though the Senator is yet to make the announcement, a close member of his campaign team told Nairobi Leo that the senator will not seek the Kisii governor seat on the ODM ticket.

The source who did not want to be mentioned because of protocol said the Senator is heading to DAP-K.

The poster making the announcement of his defection to DAP-K went viral on social media on Monday morning.

The Senator is yet to flag the poster as fake by the time of going to the press.

According to the poster, the Senator will, however, still back ODM leader Raila Odinga for the Presidency.

DAP-K is led by Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi who quit the Ford Kenya party after wrangling with the leader Moses Wetang'ula.

His defection comes at a time when several Kisii ODM leaders are seeking the party ticket for the governor seat.

The competition has seen some leaders seek alternative vehicles for their bid even as they look forward to clinching various elective seats.

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati now has an edge for the seat after Maangi went back to UDA and opted to go for the senate seat.

Arati is being billed as the front runner in the race.
