Singer, song-writer Kevin Bahati has today, Friday, March 18, 2022, announced his entry into the political arena.

The award-winning artiste announced that he will contest the Mathare Constituency parliamentary seat in the August 9 general elections.

Bahati was welcomed to Jubilee by party leaders, Kieni MP Kanini Kega, among others. He will contest the MP seat on the ruling party's ticket.


He noted that he had made the decision to join the parliamentary race after consultations with his family members and close friends.

"For the longest time, we have not had a leader who is born and raised in Mathare. I want to officially state that I am vying for the Mathare parliamentary seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.

'Our people have been crying over the same issues and because when you are led by someone who was raised outside, they fail to understand the sufferings of the people," he stated.

On his part, Kega welcomed the aspirations of the musician stating that the party would help him achieve his political aspirations.

"Welcome to the party. You will be taken around so that you can tell us which party you will be vying for. We have tickets for all positions except the presidency," he stated
