A China Eastern Airlines plane carrying 133 people on board has crashed.
The plane crashed in Guangxi province. Chinese state media has confirmed the crash.
The number of casualties is not yet known.
The crash of the Boeing 737 jet, in a mountainous region, led to a fire in the woods, state media is reporting.
Rescue crews have been deployed to the area, CCTV reported.
The plane had crashed near Teng county in Wuzhou province. Guangxi is a southern province neighbouring Guangzhou, a major city in the south-east.
Flight trackers like FlightRadar24 show the location of the plane as "unknown".
“China’s civil aviation authority says there were 133 people on board, including the crew,” Katrina said, speaking from Beijing.
“It seems like there is a wildfire caused by the plane coming down [in Quangxi], and you can get a sense of how remote this area is,” she continued.
According to Al Jazeera, local media reported that flight MU5735 had not arrived at its scheduled destination in Guangzhou after it took off from the city of Kunming shortly after 1 pm (05:00 GMT), citing airport staff.
The flight-tracking ended at 2:22 pm (06:22 GMT) at an altitude of 3,225 feet (983 metres) and a speed of 376 knots (696km/hour).
It had been due to land at 3:05 pm (07:05 GMT).
