Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday issued a statement ahead of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party primaries scheduled for Thursday, April 14.
Speaking from his official Karen residence, the DP called on all the UDA aspirants to be peaceful adding that the process will be free, fair and democratic.
“I want to ask each and every candidate to participate in the primaries tomorrow peacefully and to make sure that their supporters are peaceful,” the DP stated.
“We have committed that the elections will be free, fair and democratic. We have made all the necessary arrangements.” He added.
The second in command further maintained that all the ballot papers for the exercise had been dispatched and all the ballots papers would be at the stations across the country early Thursday.
The DP called on the UDA aspirants to cooperate with the election officials during the exercise.
“We have mobilized all our support. We have ROs, POs and clerks across the 35 counties that we are having nominations tomorrow. We expect that the aspirants will cooperate with the officials,” Ruto stated.
He also said that the aspirants will be required to have their agents in place so they can work together to make sure that they deliver the primaries successfully.
