Vying for an elective seat in Kenya is a costly affair for many aspirants.
Staging a campaign and marketing oneself in a particular electoral area requires huge finances.
With only a few months to the August 9, polls, Popular ex-comedian-cum-radio presenter Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o now says he is planning to spend tens of millions of shillings to win Lang'ata Parliamentary seat.
In an interview with Citizen Tv on Friday morning, Jalang'o said he will likely part with Sh30m to Sh40m.
The ex-presenter says the amount is not to dish out to people but to facilitate his campaign activities.

“It is not about handouts or anything like that. For a well-oiled campaign, it would easily cost about Ksh30 million to Ksh40 million so that you will be able to move into every corner of the constituency and articulate your issues,” he said.
The amount, he says, will cater for logistics such as movements, branding, and merchandise purchases.
The comedian revealed that the needed amount will be facilitated by his close friends and well-wishers.
Jalang'o says the budget for campaigns keeps fluctuating day ion day out and one cannot easily tell the exact amount needed to facilitate a rally.
"Sometimes you can budget for Ksh1 million and you find that the money has risen to over Ksh10 million. So it keeps on fluctuating every single day but politics is an expensive affair," he added.
Jalang'o will be giving his first stab at the MP seat at the August 9 polls on an ODM party ticket.
He is seeking to oust the incumbent MP Nixon Korir who is vying on a UDA party ticket.
