According to the Ruto allied MP, his brother died at the age of 78 years

Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua's elder brother has died.

Announcing the news on his official Facebook page on Sunday evening, Gachagua said his brother James Reriani Gachagua had passed on after a long illness.

The Ruto allied MP said his brother died at the age of 78 years.

"We thank God for the life of our eldest brother and the head of the greater Gachagua family, James Reriani Gachagua who has gone to be with the Lord after a long illness bravely borne. We give glory to the Lord for the 78 years he lived and hold his immediate family in prayer as we embark on arrangements to lay him to rest. May his soul rest in eternal peace," read Gachagua's post.

According to reports, the late Reriani was the stepbrother to Mathira MP Hon. Rigathi Gachagua. Until his death, he was a telecommunications engineer.

Among those who have condoled with the family include Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga. 

"I condoled with the family and friends of the late James Reriani Gachagua at his Hiriga home in Mathira West," Governor Kahiga stated.
