Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has mocked ODM leader Raila Odinga for not understanding the BBI report's contents.
According to Murkomen, during the BBI signature launch, Raila was still marketing the old document. Notably, the final BBI report agreed to add 70 more seats in Parliament but Raila did not factor in the changes.
Through his Twiter account, Murkomen stated that Raila was not aware of what was being launched, something he attributed to old age.
“I told you even Hon. Raila Odinga didn’t know what was being launched. Like Mzee Seii he signed by faith. The document had already been heavily amended to accommodate a number of issues raised by hustlers especially DP at Bomas.Mzee was still marketing the old document. Awuoro!,” said Murkomen.
It is alleged that Raila was not aware of the final changes. The document unveiled by President Uhuru Kenyatta seeks to create 70 new constituencies distributed in at least 28 counties. It allows for women's nomination to Parliament and county assemblies but only those who stood for election.

The proposed bill is set to increase the number of constituencies from 290 to 360. Still, it does not specify the number of nominations that will be done to ensure the two-thirds gender balance in the National Assembly.
However, Raila appeared caught off guard by some of the contents of the final bill. The long term opposition leader hailed the BBI process for allowing political parties to nominate IEBC chiefs.
