Lydia Jeptoo was charged with preparing meals for party officials and other visitors.

Three people who volunteered at the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party headquarters have a reason to smile after their efforts finally paid off.

Everlyn Korir worked as a front office assistant with Evans Kipyegon taking up the office messenger role.

Lydia Jeptoo worked as a cook charged with preparing meals for party officials.

Much to their surprise, they have been handed slots in the County Assemblies.

Thanking her seniors, Evelyn who had taken up the office assistant role as a part-time venture while undertaking her university studies said she did not anticipate it culminating in an MCA position.

"It was a surprise when I saw my name. I thank the party officials for trusting me with the position and I promise to deliver for the residents of Baringo,” she said.

Elsewhere, the UDA party also sponsored a boda boda operator to the Murang'a County Assembly.

Tony Marubu will now serve as an MCA for the next five years.

According to Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, while Tony did not proceed to college after scoring a C+, he is a very intelligent fellow.

"Tony is a Boda Boda rider in Kiharu, specifically at Mukuyu (Mugoiri Junction), Kiria and Ndutumi stages. He comes from Ndutumi, Mugoiri Ward in Kiharu.

"We noticed him around 2 years ago in our usual work activities. He came out as sharp and articulate. Called him to the office and enquired about him. He told me he had scored C+ but was unable to proceed to College. We were willing to sponsor him for a Teaching Course but in the course of making it happen, he is now an MCA," Nyoro said.
