The Kenya Judges and Magistrates Association has confirmed the passing on of Mombasa principal magistrate Elvis Michieka.
In a statement on Wednesday, the association's secretary-general Derrick Kuto said Michieka died at The Karen Hospital where he had been admitted.
Mr Kuto mourned the deceased as “a brother, a friend and a diligent colleague.”
“He is an irreplaceable pillar. I wish to convey our condolences to the family and friends. Let’s pray for all of us that God gives us the strength to withstand this loss,” said Magistrate Kuto.
“I will keep you posted on all developments. Our brother has left us with a lot of sorrow. Only God gives and takes,” he added.

Chief Justice David Maraga in a statement confirmed Mr Michieka's death adding that the principal magistrate had been receiving treatment for two weeks.
"Hon. Michieka was a devoted judiciary officer who rendered his services to the people of Kenya with exceptional diligence and dedication," CJ Maraga's statement read.
"On behalf of the judiciary, the Judicial Service Commission and on my own behalf, I wish to express our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and entire legal fraternity for this shocking loss," he concluded.
