Deputy President William Ruto's camp has proposed that the referendum be held in 2022 alongside the general elections.
Speaking on Wednesday at the DP's Karen office, the team questioned the wisdom of holding a referendum in the middle of the Covid 19 pandemic.
'... we care far too much for this country to reduce this matter to a Yes or No contest. We are of the view that the referendum should be held alongside the 2022 General Election," Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua said.
His sentiments were also echoed by Garissa Town Member of Parliament Aden Duale.
"We are of the view that the referendum should be held alongside the next general election which will come at virtually no cost," Duale said.
