Deputy President William Ruto has responded to Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa’s claims that he almost slapped him.
Speaking at a Kenya Kwanza rally in Trans Nzoia on Tuesday, the DP said that from where he comes from, they do not slap women.
“Nimesikia jamaa mwingine nilimpatia kazi ya uwaziri. Anatoka huku kwenu. Ati anasema mimi nilkuwa nataka kumchapa kofi. Mimi nataka nimwambie huyo jamaa huko kwetu hatuchapi kofi wanawake. Mumuambie hivo. Tunawaheshimu wanawake,” Ruto told a charged crowd.
According to the Deputy President, without him, the CS could still be tarmacking because he was the one who gave him a job in the government.

“Na mwambie huyo mjamaa awache kuongea mingi, bila mimi angekuwa anatembea kwa barabara, mimi ndiye nilimtoa kwa mtaro na nikampatia kazi ya waziri. Serikali mimi ndiye niliunda na Uhuru Kenyatta. Huyo jamaa alikuwa anahangaika barabarani. Sahii ako na mdomo kutoka hapa hadi South Africa,” Ruto stated.
On July 9, Wamalwa said Ruto nearly slapped him in 2018 when he led a delegation from Western Kenya to State House to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta without his notice.
"Jamaa alikuwa na hasira sijawahiona. Karibu nipate hiyo slap. Lakini hiyo slap ingeteleza iniguze, mimi singempa shavu lingine, ningempa uppercut moja tungeonana mundu khu mundu.
He also claimed that Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i was also almost slapped by the second in command.
“Sio Mimi pekayangu, kuna waziri mwingine Fred Matiang'i karibu apigwe pia. Siku rais aliongeza Matiang'i mamlaka, huyo jamaa alikua na hasira kwake sana," Wamalwa said.
