One person has died and scores injured after a bus collided with a lorry near Mlolongo along the Mombasa road.
According to Athi River Sub County police commander Anderson Njagi who confirmed the Wednesday incident, the deceased died on the spot.
“One person has died on the spot in the accident while several others have sustained serious injuries,” Nagi stated.

Kenya’s Emergency Plus Medical Services (E-Plus) said that two people had been rushed to the hospital while others were treated on the scene.
“Our ambulances have rushed two people to hospital and treated others at the scene after a bus ferrying passengers collided with a lorry and overturned near Mlolongo along Mombasa road. We wish all the injured a quick recovery,” E-Plus tweeted.
The incident comes days after six people were killed on the spot while ten others sustained severe injuries after a nasty accident along the Thika-Garissa highway.
In the incident, a matatu collided with a car and one of the vehicles burst into flames after the accident with reports indicating that three people were burnt beyond recognition.
There has been a surge in the number of accidents with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) in collaboration with the National Police Service (NPS) launching a crackdown on non-compliant vehicles.
