The High Court has delivered its verdict on the case regarding the murder of Lawyer Willie Kimani.

Justice Jessie Lessit delivered the ruling on Friday where he convicted three police officers and their informer.

Police officers Fredrick Leliman, Stephen Cheburet, Sylvia Wanjiku, and police informer Peter Ngugi have been found guilty of the murder of lawyer Willie Kimani.

Officer Leonard Mwangi has been acquitted on all three counts of murder.

The case was about the murder of lawyer Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri has been pending in court for six years.

Justice Jessie Lessit concluded the case early this year and set the judgement to 60 days but in communication to parties this week she set the date for July 22.

Willie, who was a lawyer working with International Justice Mission, was brutally murdered alongside his client Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri on June 23, 2016.

Defence lawyers have all said they will be appealing the judgment at the higher court.

The sentencing was, however, not done.

Justice Lessit wants another judge to handle the sentencing but the parties opposed the move saying she should conclude the matter.
