Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna is set to return to Kenya after five years of exile.

Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna is set to return to Kenya on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

In an update on Thursday, September 22, Miguna stated that he would arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 8:20 PM.

"After nearly 5 years of forced barbaric exile, I'm returning home. Departing from Toronto: October 24, 2022. Arrival at JKIA, Nairobi: October 25, 2022, at 8:20 PM. See you, everyone," the exiled lawyer stated.

The announcement comes days after Miguna received a new passport. His old passport was destroyed while being deported to Canada.

"1687 days after Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, Fred Matiang'i, Karanja Kibicho, and Gordon Kihalangwa conspired to illegally seize and destroy my Kenyan Passport, President William Ruto has had a new one delivered to me. Waiting for the lifting of the red alerts," Miguna said.

Miguna was unceremoniously deported from the country in 2018.

The state argued that he had committed an offense akin to treason after administering an illegal oath to then NASA leader Raila Odinga.

His efforts to return to the country have proved futile. In 2020, the government under former president Uhuru Kenyatta sanctioned red alerts that have since to date barred his return to Kenya.
