Kenya Airways said that the passenger was found to be unresponsive before later being confirmed to be dead.

A passenger aboard a Kenya Airways (KQ) flight from Nairobi to New York, United States has died, Kenya Airways has confirmed.

In a statement by the carrier on Friday, September 2, the passenger was found to be unresponsive and upon examination by medical personnel on board, the passenger was found to be dead.

KQ said that the flight had departed Nairobi as per schedule on Thursday, September 1 at 11:55 pm before the passenger lost their life on Friday morning.

“Kenya Airways PLC (KQ) confirms that on Friday, September 2, at around 6:30 am, KQ002, on a scheduled flight from Nairobi to New York, a passenger was found to be unresponsive.

“Upon further investigation, medical personnel on board confirmed that the passenger had passed away. The flight had departed Nairobi as per schedule on Thursday, September 1, at 11:55 pm,” read the statement by Kenya Airways.

The incident comes after another passengers aboard a KQ flight from New York to Nairobi on Monday, August 22.

In a statement on Tuesday, August 23, KQ stated that a medical emergency forced its pilots to divert the plane to Casablanca, Morocco after the passenger fell ill mid-air.

The passenger, however, was confirmed dead on arrival.

 "On arrival in Casablanca, medical personnel at the airport found the passenger unresponsive and was confirmed to have passed away,” part of the statement by KQ read.
